It's called Veterans Day here in the US, and it is when we remember and honor all of the service men and women who've fought for or died for to help keep us free and protected. Soldiers are special people.Do you do anything in particular to honor them? | | How Did You Commemorate Rememberence (Veterans's) Day, Nov. 11? | | 12 pipers, 2 snares, 2 tom toms, and a bass drum all in a 1,500 Squarefoot (30 x 50) room full of people. That was Rememberence Day at the A.N.A.F today. It was beautiful, but our ears are ringing. I got the whole thing on video. When I have the disk full I'll put some of them up here. After we went to Second Cup where Mom was waiting, and we gave her her birhtday gift. Unfortunately she lost one of the sapphire earrings we got her for Mother's Day, but thanks to Bidz.com we were able to get her another pair. My step-dad has an earl pierced, so the remaining earring from the old set did not go to waste. Now we are back at home, but we're going back to the A.N.A.F at around 7:00 because the usual deejay is going to be back. He's the same guy who was there for Hallowe'en, and Octoberfest. I'm so glad Walker joined when he got up here. Mom was telling us about the Rememberence Day assembly in the school where she was working today. It's so nice that children are learning about the brave people who fought and died during past and present wars. What did everyone else do today for Nov. 11th? | |

My father was in the Army Corp. of Engineers during World War II and my grandfather was in the Navy during World War I. Do you have anyone past or present who has server in the military? | | Veterans' Day Snafu | | The school system in my county decided to have school as usual this year on Veterans' Day.
A lot of the parents were upset about this decision because to them it is unpatriotic, especially since
the USA is at war and many of them have family members in Iraq. The school officials decided to
give the kids a half day off, but I don't think it's enough. I think they should relent and call
it a school holiday. What are your thoughts on this? | |

Take a moment today to pray for our veterans, and all the men and women currently seving the cause of freedom in our Armed Forces. Veterans should have anything they need and so should are armed forces today the government should make sure thay are all well taken care of instead of spending billion of tax dollars on foriegner's. | | Good Choice For Veterans Day Ceremony? | | I'm gonna get it for this and I know it but I can't seem to help myself...this morning I watched part of - not much because I can't STOMACH the man - the Veterans Day ceremony from Arlington National Cemetary. Who else feels (I actually can't use his first name...lol!)Cheney was possibly the worst possible choice of speaker for something honoring our veterans? Mr. Five Deferrments "I had different priorities"? Just a thought, now let's discuss it!
