Discuss holiday items, ideas, and cheer!| Vince Gill Paid My Boyfriend To Leave!! | | [em]lol[/em]Country music singer VINCE GILL has a rehersal stduio located near the consturction site my boyfriend was working at. He had something special going on Friday and needed the space they were occupying, so one of his agents paid them all $40 to leave work early! It was a great inspiriation to get to leave work early and make $40, and I think it is pretty funny to say he was paid by a star to leave!!
| | Are there any Merle Haggard fans out there? | | I tell what I like about Merle Haggard. He's honest. Honesty is such a lonely word, as Billy Joel put it. There's so many songs I like by him: "That's the Way Love Goes", "Working Man Blues", "Daddy Frank". I don't which ones he wrote. I'm lucky to remember my own name. I like country music because no matter what situation I'm in, it always brings me back home. I love the country, and I don't like living in a big city. Nevertheless, unless things chance here I am. I forgot to mention, being the reprobate that I certainly am, "Think I'll Just Stay Here and Drink". One of these days, I'll do a cover of that song - playing the piano part. I write and play as well, but I'll never be as great as Merle Haggard or Vince Gill - another one of my favorites. My website is, for now, www.soundclick.com/danmatheny I'm into music, and I'm into the great ones - as aforementioned Merle and Vince but in the country genre, Reba McIntyre, Tammy Wynette, and Johnny Cash. Oh, let me include Glen Campbell from Delight, Arkansas. I guess all this dates me, for I was born in 1961. I lived in Linden, Texas for awhile. Worked in a studio there. I became a fan of Don Henley while there. Never lost... | |
| | Sometimes dreams really do come true. | | I occasionally dream about going back to my old grade school and hanging out in the halls, visiting the classrooms, and seeing how things have changed. Now I get to do it for real! There is going to be a benefit/awards ceremony honoring Vince Gill (we went to grade school together - he was a grade ahead of me, but we were on the same YMCA baseball team). The tickets (because they want to revamp the old auditorium and fix up the school) are $500 a pop, but a buddy of mine from back then called me and said another friend of ours has done quite well and bought 20 ticket, of which one would be for me if I agreed to show up.I'm not a big country music fan, but I am definitely going because most of our old baseball team and many of our classmates will be there. Our baseball coach is going, too. | |

| | My Friend, Jonathan David Brown | | I want each of you to listen to his album, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God". You cannot know the price he paid to come up with the lyrics and music to this awesome, awesome album. I can recommend no better music for these days and times. Besides that, he is the best of men - with a wife and children that he is faithful to. Furthermore, he is a wonderful friend that I have come to love over the many years I've known him.He re-defines Christian music with that album, which is now several years old. If you want correction in your life, if you want the best of the best, if you want to get a true picture of the evil in this world - then this album is for you. He and I graduated from Oklahoma City schools the same year, along with Vince Gill and Garth Brooks. His father owned, "Brown's Music Company", which I visited there at 39th and May. But I didn't meet him until many years later.I know, from the bottom of my heart, placed as it is in this skinny little frame, that there is no greater than he that is convicted of sin. Jonathan is one of those, and if you truly, truly are a Christian, you'll be likewise. The album is not online - you'll have to order it. But do so, and... | |

| | I Met a Star! | | I got to meet Amy Grant the other night. She's the wife of Vince Gill, who was being honored as Oklahoman of the Year at our old grade school (Vince was a year ahead of me, but we were in Cub Scouts together and played little league baseball on the same team).
After the ceremony and mini-concert, I went up to Amy Grant and said, "Wow! You are a star, right here in the old auditorium. I mean, Vince...well, he's one of the guys from the team, but you are like a mega-star!'
She was sooooo nice and really classy. She said to me, "You are a star, too. Vince has a picture of the team and you are in it. It's one of his most cherished possessions."I melted.
Have you ever met a star?
| | In Memory of those have died this Christmas Season | | I can't think of more tragic events that have happened this year...And for those who have lost someone close to them, Each of these people are in my heart and prayers as their lives are forever changed.....All I can thing to say is something Vince Gill Sang when his brother died.....http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/gill-vince/go-rest-high-on-that-mountain-6191.htmlWritten and sung by Vince Gill
>I know your life
On earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You weren't afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rainGo rest high on that mountain
Son, you work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and SonOh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your grave to grieve
I wish I could see the angels faces
When they hear your sweet voice singGo rest high on that mountain
Son, you work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the Father and Son
