Discuss holiday items, ideas, and cheer! | | | I'm so angry!! They removed a nativity scene from public property. | | This seems to come up every year, but, for some reason this year, I'm very upset. There was a beautiful nativity scene in a public gardens near my house. It was gorgeous, well, the city removed it because "some" people complained about it. Apparently, there are groups in my community that object to Christmas. I don't get it, if you don't celebrate it, why impede me from doing so? You should be happy you're in a country (Canada) where you can celebrate what you want, and as far as I'm concerned our government bends over backwards to accomodate every culture that comes into this country. Well, if you don't like the culture here, there are plenty of planes leaving the airport going back to your "homeland". I wish our government would grow a backbone. Makes me angry...ARRGGHH!
| | What do you think about this billboard? | | I live in the Bible Belt and this billboard recently made an appearence here. Has this message reached your area yet?[em]ninja[/em][em]ninja[/em][em]ninja[/em] | |
| | Very Sad News | | There will be no Nativity Scene in Ottawa, Canada this year! The Supreme Court has ruled that there cannot be a Nativity Scene in Canada's capital this Christmas season. This isn't for any religious reason, they simply have not been able to find Three Wise Men in the Nation's capitol.
P.S. There was no problem, however, finding enough assses to fill the stable.
| | do you put up "belen" in your house during Christmas? | | i know most of the Filipinos if not all, put up Christmas tree, different colors of Christmas lights, attractive lanterns at their respective houses during Christmas season.. but how about the Nativity scene or what we call "belen", do you also have one during Christmas? if i could remember it right from our priest's homily during the 25th of December last year, he emphasized the importance of the "belen" in our houses during Christmas more than those tall Christmas trees, colorful lights and expensive huge lanterns..so again, do you have "belen"?[em]rolleyes[/em] | |
| | Real-life Grinch | | This poor woman. I saw her crying on the news because someone stole Mary and baby Jesus from her lawn nativity scene on her front lawn. Her and her husband have been setting up the display for the past 38 years. They are just hoping the people that took it will have a change of heart and return it because it was purchased in the 1960s from her her husband when they really did not have the money to spend on such things.
It isn't bad enough when lawn trolls frogs are taken? LEAVE OTHER PEOPLES PROPERTY ALONE ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS RELIGIOUS!
| | Its ppl like this that mess it up for everyone else.. | | So my husband came home last night and was telling me about an incident in Olean county regarding a Nativity Scene display and the stink that went on regarding it....Here is the news story on it...http://www.wkbw.com/news/local/12377616.htmlFirst off I really need to say KUDOS to the mayor for saying all holiday symbols were welcome. I think that shows great character and if ppl would just pull their heads out of their a$$es then maybe just MAYBE our towns, cities and villages could actually have a Happy December for once without the nonsense....That being said however I say poopoo to not only the ppl who complained in the first place but also Wiccan for pulling a stunt like that (to me its just stirring the pot when it wasnt necessary), poopoo to the truck driver for also stirring the pot by running the Pentacle over....Its ppl like this who are childish and immature, who rather than handle the situation appropriately by talking to town council, going to the mayor and resolving it fairly etc etc resort to sandbox stupidity that ruin it for everyone else...Any thoughts? What do you think would have been the best way for it to have been handled? Do you think the... | |
| | How do you decorate your house during Christmas Season | | I put up almost every usual Christmas Stuffs like lanterns, Christmas lights, Posters, etc. but one sad thing is that I no longer have a Christmas Tree. I did not buy a new one because I still have a four year old boy who loves to pull everything. How do you usually decorate your house during the Christmas season? | |
| | How long to you keep your Christmas decorations up? | | I just drove past a house not too far from where I live and he Christmas decorations were still up. Now this is one of these homes where the owner spares no expense. Decorations over the roof, the trees the front yard, every inch of space that can get electric power. At Christmas it looked wonderful but now I think it looks ridiculous. We always take our down on Jan 6th, The Three Kings holiday.
What do you think? When do you take yours down?
