Discuss holiday items, ideas, and cheer! | | My Daughter Won't Let Me Over For Easter | | Well the plans are me, my wife, and my father are going to my daughters for Easter dinner etc next Sunday. Now I get the word that my daughter will refuse to open the door for me. The reason behind this decision of hers is a simple one really. My daughter loves Baker Square's French Silk Pie. And I meanREALLY loves it. If I do not bring one with Easter Sunday she says she will not open the door. Of courseshe is joking but I loved hearing this today. Show's me how much she really likes the fact I always get her favorite pie each Holiday Dinner at her house or ours. So I will be allowed over for easter either way. But of course I will be bringing a couple pies including a French Silk just for my daughter. So do you buy your pies for easter Dinner or do you ake your own?

| | How's this for an anti-drug message? | | On youtube I found a video documenting the 1965 murder of a baby. The baby's two grandmothers were babysitting one night while the parents went out. They were looking for nappy pins and found a little tube containing acid. They had been previously unaware that the father of the baby was an LSD user. They decided to try the LSD and thought that the naked baby on the bed was a Leg of lamb. They then put the baby in a roasting pan with potatoes and carrots and roasted the baby. The parents came home to see the two women sitting at the table acting strangely. There was a strange smell and they couldn't find their baby. When they realised that the grandmothers had roasted their baby they called the police. The two women ended up serving a small amount of time in prison. The baby's father ended up taking LSD again a few years later and jumped off a bridge believeing he could fly. His trousers got caught and saved his life. This is just so unbelievably sad and weird. Wouldn't you think that the father would have not ever touched drugs again after they responsible for the death of his baby? I think this video should be shown to kids in schools just to... | |

| | ### YOU are what you EAT??? ### | | I have heard that said 100 Thousand times and it was not until recently did itHIT ME.
Now I will come back to that, ((HIT ME)soon, but first let me explain. Now we all know Italian love to eat so said GARLIC.
And the Chinese we must agree some here they are Fish and stir fry type foods, the ones that have that sweetness to them like SOY and HONEY.
A person from India tends to eat SPICED foods in their meats.
English well its Sunday Roast, LEG of LAMB and 3 VEGETABLES.
Australians tend to go for RED MEAT and VEGETABLES.Now if you were blind folded and was taken into an Asian food shop most of would be able to tell it was ASIAN or CHINESE.
Same would be for the entry into an PIZZA SHOP, We would say ITALIAN.Now this get me to the point,HIT ME.As many of you know Australia is a Multi Cultural Country, We have people from near every part of the World living here, and many have been here many Years.
The Chinese, Afghans, and the English, Scottish many have been here 5 generations near on 200 years. But only in recent time have I woken up to that, and where, When I went to the Toilet (Wash room/WC/) Or to the place MR CRAPPER made... | |
| | Thursdays Hunt | | This is Buster my beagle. He had recieved a nice leg of lamb bone recently. He is not allowed to have the bones indoors so he eats them outside. Well he lost it in the snow that fell recently. Here he is sniffing for the bone. He ran around the yard sniffing for it's whereabouts. He would bury his nose in the snow tossing it into the air. AFter awhile he finally found it. In his dog house all that time. Too cute. Does your dog etc like playing in the snow at all? Or maybe even in the rain?

| | how do YOU cook your lamb? | | Hi peeps, this question is to the meat eaters...well it's Sunday again, it's roast dinner day here, so i have decided to cook a different joint of meat instead of beef, pork or chicken, i decided to do a leg of lamb instead, so here i am in the kitchen when my ever so lovely partner poked in and said i was doing it wrong, what i did was i seasoned it with lamb seasoning and rosemary and added a little bit of salt to the skin to make it crisp, he said it looked good but would prefer it if i added cloves, i am not keen on cloves so i decided to leave them out, he insisted that cloves would give it that extra flavour, do anyone of you use cloves on lamb?, so if anyone here has any other tips on how to cook the perfect lamb joint i would truly appreciate it...how do you do yours? | |

| | It's dog's life after all.........* | | A butcher watching over his shop is really surprised when he saw a dog coming inside the shop. He shoos him away. But later, the dog is back again. So, he goes over to the dog and notices he has a note in his mouth. He takes the note and it reads "Can I have 12 sausages and a leg of lamb, please. The dog has money in his mouth, as well".The butcher looks inside and, behold, a ten dollar note. So he takes the money and puts the sausages and lamb in a bag, placing it in the dog's mouth. The butcher is so impressed, and since it's about closing time, he decides to shut up shop and follow the dog. So off he goes. The dog is walking down the street when he comes to a level crossing. The dog puts down the bag, jumps up and presses the button. Then he waits patiently, bag in mouth, for the lights to turn. They do, and he walks across the road, with the butcher following him all the way.The dog then comes to a bus stop, and starts looking at the timetable. The butcher is in awe at this stage. The dog checks out the times, and then sits on one of the seats provided.Along comes a bus. The dog walks around to the front, looks at the number, and goes back... | |
| | Favorite Roald Dahl? | | What is your favorite Roald Dahl book or movie? I love The Witches (book and movie) and James and the Giant Peach. Charlie and the Chocolate factory is in the midst of those, as well as Matilda. I also liked his autobiographies, Boy and Going Solo. He has a very good collection of his short stories for adults out -- I forget what it is called. It is very hefty and has some wonderful stories, my favorite among these being "skin" and "leg of lamb". What are your favorites? What was your first? Mine was Matilda -- I was about her age when I read it and it somehow has stuck with me through all the years. | |
