Discuss holiday items, ideas, and cheer!| Another tattoo.... | | I must say, this is the shortest time I've ever had between tattoos!Some of you may remember that I got my new tattoo just a few months ago. I've never been "rash" about my tattoos, I put a lot of thought into them and they usually take at least a couple years before I actually get it. My first one took a few years after I had the dream about it (I kinda miss seeing my Saturn around here). Then a few years later I got my Orca (which is my least favorite one, unfortunately). It took 8 years before I got my Dove - the current profile picture. And then a mere 6 weeks to get my most recent one.When I got the dove done, it was a "sister" event. My two sisters had planned on getting new ones and I took that opportunity to get the one I'd been wanting. About half-way through getting what we each had come for, we thought it would be cool to get something the same too. We didn't have enough time for it that day, but scheduled a time to come back and get them done. We had decided to get a small candle flame because our birthdays are within 3 weeks of each other and we celebrate them all together when the whole family is around for Christmas.This isn't a very good picture -... | |
| | My 2009 Calendar | | Every year for Christmas, my mother will get us something. Some times it's something really cool, some times it's something really stupid. Well, this year was a really cool year! My mom made us calendars for 2009. The front cover is in a pattern with our favorite color and has our name and the year on it. Then each month has a picture on it that has to do with that month. They're all pictures of something we know. Like January is a picture of the trees in my mother's yard during an ice storm we had a while back. For June, it's the local High School with pictures of the 3 kids that will be graduating this year (although not all from that school). May has some pictures from our last year's Memorial Day party and August has pictures from the Labor Day party last year. Every month is marked with something to do with our family from that month.AND, this is the great part, throughout the year, ALL of our living relatives birthdays are marked and most of them with their picture. If she had a picture of them, from a reunion or a visit, she put it on their birthday.Now, I don't normally use a calendar and I probably wont use this one. But, I will keep... | |
| | Have you ever accidentally added someone to your blocked/spam/junk e-mail? | | A while back I sent out invitations to our Labor Day party through e-vite and was getting some responses back. My husband asked me a couple days later if I was going to send out the e-vites because it's getting close and we're going to be away for most of the time beforehand. I told him I did and to check his e-mail - I always send him one so he knows when I've done it. He never got the e-mail and said it's actually been a while since he had gotten one from me. I send him jokes all the time, so I told him to check his Junk mail in Outlook. Nothing there, so I told him to check his spam filter through our provider. I showed him how to do that using IE and there was nothing there. I figured it had gotten dumped already because by this time it was a week or so. So the other day he's bugging me about it again - he hasn't been getting my 3-Day Walk updates. So I went to his e-mail preferences on through the provider and found that our domain was blocked. He wasn't gettting any e-mail from anyone that has our provider either - some of his family and friends.I'm pretty sure what happened was he got a junk/spam e-mail and instead of hitting block user he hit block domain. | | Our new deck furniture! | | Every year we have a HUGE Labor Day Party with all our family and quite a few friends and neighbors. Last year our deck was finished and that was great. We've been looking for some furniture to put on it and have not had much luck. The year before when they were working on the deck I found something that I loved, but we didn't have a place to keep it and I had to pass on it. Since I saw it at Sam's Club, I knew I'd probably never see it again. We'll we've been looking for the last couple years and found something by accident last night.We also need to get one of those pop-up tent-like things to give us some shade on the deck, so we went to Sam's club to get one. Well, they didn't have any, but I did fall in love with another patio set. We don't really have the money for it, but we can fake it and shuffle some other bills around a bit. I really liked it, and so did my husband, and we knew that if we didn't get it they wouldn't have it when we had the money for it. So, we bought it! We put it together in the rain last night, and we'll most likely eat dinner on it tonight!!! | |
| | How are you all spending today Labor Day? | | Well, the husband is away on a business trip, it's our wedding Anniversary today, although we'll be doing something special when he comes back. Well, I'll probably be going on one of my power hikes where I do my sprints. Afterwards am meeting up with a friend for Vietnamese food, in particular my Seafood pho soup which I love, as I love anything ethnic, followed by dinner at my parents place later on. Its a nice relaxing day and I don't want to spend it doing nothing. How about you? What are you up to today? I hope you're not going to say, "nothing". | |
| | Labor Day 2009 Free-for-All Weekend! | | Sorry this one was so late, I'm spending some time with dad since his birthday is near Labor Day this year. Plus add in an important (and might I add weekend-disturbing) meeting and you end up a bit time-tied.LIVE!!! | | Labor Day! Any travel plans? | | For those of us in the United Stated this weekend in Labor Day weekend. Many people plan trips or parties for this weekend as it marks the end of the summer for most of us. So, what are you plans? Are you traveling?My boyfriend and I are making a trip out to the university he recently graduated from because he still has friends there and we really love the small town where it's located. We plan on hanging out with his friends, eating some comfort foods from some of the restaurants out there that we love and probably doing a decent amount of drinking. We may also visit some of my family, who live fairly close to his alma-mater. | |

We are projected to have some warm, sunny weather down here so it should be a very nice weekend. I plan to go to an airshow, Luray Caverns and swim at our local beach. I have some company coming from out of town so it should be a pretty good time. | |
