| Holiday Music | | A few days ago I was walking around the grocery store with my two toddlers and I felt this ridiculous headache coming on--ah, the joys of motherhood. As I was moving through the store, dropping things into my cart for purchase, I noticed the song "Walking In A Winter Wonderland" droning over the PA system, and rolled my eyes. By the time I had went from the bakery to the frozen section, up and down each aisle, I noticed something very, VERY disturbing. They played the SAME SONG TWICE.By DIFFERENT ARTISTS.Come on, marketing companies--ARE YOU SERIOUS?!THIS is why people grow to hate this season, even though it should be joyous. It's sad. | |
| | holiday music already | | I was out shopping the other day and already they are playing Christmas music in the stores. I remember in the past they at least waited until after Thanksgiving. Does anyone else think it is to early? | |

| | Songs of celebration | | [em]happy[/em] Hello all:)
Here in the US, as in many companies, we will be celebrating Christmas next month, which for many of us means celebrating the birth of Christ.
And like other countries, we have many celebrations through the year, most that come with their own "special" music. For Christmas, it is carols.
Some of my favorite Christmas carols:O Holy Night
The Little Drummer Boy
Silent Night
Little Town of Bethlehem
Joy to the World
The Christmas Song
Pat-a-pan
...and many others. I love to sing them, or listen to them on the radio or Cd's, or play them on the piano.
What is your own next nation-wide celebration that is coming up? As part of the celebration, is there music especially for it? If so, what are your favorite songs for it?Karen
| | Is there a Christmas song that you just don't like? | | Or that you are so tired of hearing? When I first heard "Grandma got Run over by a Reindeer" I thought it was funny. But now I am tired of hearing it. And recently I saw that they made a cartoon Holiday special based on the song. I watched only the last few minutes of it. Watching the grandmother get run over was TACKY. | |

| Recommending One of My Favorite Holiday CD's | | I am sitting here tonight listening to one of my favorite holiday cd's. My sister bought this cd for me when it first came out. I have enjoyed listening to this over and over again. It is Wintersong by Sarah McLachlan. The music is so moving. Her rendition of Happy Xmas (War is Over) is wonderful. What Child is this (Greensleeves) is awesome. Here are a couple of links to the videos on YouTube. If you are looking for some great holiday music check out these links. River

Of course I have been listening to the cheerful music for about 2 weeks now. As I type this discussion I am listening to Elton John's "Step Into Christmas." Love holiday music! There are so many songs out there that are favorites of mine. What are some of your favorites?

| Christmas Music in the Store Yesterday... Honest! | | We did the weekly grocery shopping yesterday and were just walking along an aisle and it started. I looked at my daughter to see if I was really hearing Christmas carols and she was laughing because she enough, that's what it was.[em]happy[/em]Guess they needed to wait until Halloween was over and then they could start the big Christmas push. Can't say I mind it a bit.Gotta admit it certainly put me into a perky frame of mind.[em]happy[/em] Do you like when the holiday music starts to play in the stores? And if you're not Christian, does that kind of music over the sound system bother you? | |
