Discuss holiday items, ideas, and cheer!| God And The Good Samaritan | | Luke 10: 30-37 tell us about this man who was beaten up and left for dead. Two men, a priest and a Levite walked right pass him but a Samaritan took care of help. How this is interpreted is if you have the ability to help someone in need it is your duty to do so. What does God do though? I have limited resources but God is all powerful. We read in the Old Testament that he feed the children of Israel manna from Heaven, why can he not feed the starving children in Africa with manna? Think about the witness that would be, showing people how much God loves them by feeding the starving Children Around the world. God does not do this, even though he has the power to do so, he leaves that duty to us. I am not trying to blame God for all the suffering around the world but I am comparing him to the Priest and the Levite. The Priest and the Levite had the power to help and so did God but they left the responsibility to the Samaritan and us.
| | | Why does anyone think that Sperm Banks are acceptable? | | First point, this is a general question, it is nothing to do with my life personally.Assume that a couple cannot have children as the husband has fertility problems[em]sad[/em]. Assume also that he comes home early from work and finds his wife in bed with another man. Afterwards she explains that there is nothing in the relationship, and all she wants to do is get pregnant[em]happy[/em], and as he is not capable of giving her a baby .... This is acceptable? And when nine months later she gives birth to the child, the husband is supposed to accept the child without any problems? Then assume that about the same time, the same guy (as mentioned in bed above) goes instead to a Sperm Bank. His sperm is later donated to the wife as above. She gets pregnant, nine months later she gives birth. This is acceptable? The husband is supposed to accept the child without any problems[em]confused[/em]? And why is this physically different from the example quoted above?I personally dislike the idea of children being created in a test tube anyway (even when it is a question of using the husband's sperm). For couples with problems with infertility, adoption offers an excellent solution.... | |
| | computer games a virus? | | computer games are sometimes good to kids....but most of the time it is like a virus that slowly ruins the minds and mentality of many children Around the world.[/em]? And why is this physically different from the example quoted above?I personally dislike the idea of children being created in a test tube anyway (even when it is a question of using the husband's sperm). For couples with problems with infertility, adoption offers an excellent solution. There are thousands of children around the world needing to be adopted, and childless couples can very often offer to be excellent parents for such children. | |
| | On a lighter note, Another great reason why Saddam is not in power anymore... | | Because he stole Cookie Moster[em]lol[/em] It seems that when Iraq invaded Kuwait back in the 1990's that the troops took Cookie Monster and a camel muppet as POW's. The article talks mostly about how Sesame Street helps teach children around the world about diplomacy. So to make this an actual discussion about politics, do you think that Sesame street should teach the basics of politics and diplomacy? Or would you rather your children not to learn about those things and just be your carbon copy? One, last question, think we will ever find Cookie Monster and the camel and return them to their rightful owners?http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/08/13/generation.islam.gaza.muppets/index.html?iref=mpstoryview | |

| | BioEthicist writes new book about saving lives! | | I was listening to my radio in my car as I tooled around town (what's new huh?) and I heard a bioethicist was going to be on a talk show to discuss his new book 'The Life You Can Save' and I was eager to listen. As usual, I was in and out of my car and only heard part of the interview, which, as it turns out, was probably a good thing. I was pretty enraged! The 'gentleman' in question is Peter Singer and he is a Princeton University professor of bioethics. The statements he was making absolutely floored me. He actually thinks that parents should have the right to 'euthanize' their children up to the age of twelve months. His rational was that if the child is too much of a burden, then the parents should be able to relieve themselves, and ultimately 'society', of that burden. He also feels that euthanasia for the sick and elderly should be legalized to help alleviate financial and emotional burdens on families, friends, society and the person in question. When he went into a rant on how he cannot fathom why 'prolifers' bother to spend so much time and money on fighting the 'hopeless cause against abortion' in the United States when there are millions of children around the... | |
| | Can Santa really exist? | | Ok say, Santa and his ton of weight,(meat pounds)Is on his sleigh with his reindeer.
there millions of children around the world. Lets go the Santa way, Lets delete 1/3 of the people who coal.
Its december 30 at 8 PM, and he has less than 12 hours to travel around the entire world.Thats supersonic speed he must be going. Beyond Landing time switching houses in United States,ETC, he wouldn't have time to land at super speeds traveling. At that speed, Santa has no protection what so ever just sitting on his sleigh. At Supersonic speeds, the wind/gravitational force would crush Santa to pulp at that speed sitting on a sleigh. And sleigh only aids in Santas inevitable doom, by pushing santa against the gravity and the wind. Where is Santas getting all the resources to make those toys in the north pole?
A kid asks santa to buy lets say a Star Wars Lightsaber.Did santa get copyright permission to copy that toy with the Star Wars logo on it?
| | If you think "stealing candy from babies" is bad, how about | | stealing wheat, oil, and beans from starving children! That is exactly what has happened in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwean authorities STOLE 20 tons of food aid that was supposed to go to starving schoolchildren so they could have ONE meal a day.The food was then "handed out to supporters of President Robert Mugabe at a political rally".Here is a link to the full story - http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/12/world/africa/12zimbabwe.html?th&emc=thPeople complain that the US and other countries are not doing enough to help feed poor children around the world. But, the true problem is that corrupt governments and other theives are stealing the food that is being sent to these children.Shame on President Mugabe and his corrupt regime! They should be made to do without food for a few days themselves. | |
| | Universal RESIDENT EVIL | | One thing that I'm not sure how to explain to our children today and to our children's children tomorrow is the wars going on. I mean this is Killing children around the world. Why can Our leaders look at the world in another way? Do we have to fight each other? This is morden days it is better not to talk to a person that upset you for a while until your anger is gone than killing their families and more. I feel so sad and terrible for the children in Middel east. For sometime now I have not had courage to watch news. It is blood everyday. I hope that this easter christians, muslems, whatever, they call it if you are one join in speaking out for the children. lets start saving the world. Africa is just about copying what is going on in middle east most of them now are fighting, wars is no good . | |
